In Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, Annamalai University Distance Education was founded in 1979. Annamalai University was given an "A" grade by NAAC in 2014 and is recognized by the AICTE, UGC, MCI, DCI, and NCTE. Additionally, Anamalai University has 20 course wings and it offers DEC (Distance Education Council)-approved distance learning programs. Annamalai University's distance learning program offers more than 500 courses in fields like commerce, science, engineering, management, law, medicine, education and allied health sciences.

It is also the first university in India to provide distance learning or online education for postgraduate (PG) degree programs in law, biotechnology, zoology, chemistry, and physics. It also provides a wide range of additional programs, including those in management, hotel management, fashion design, textile design, retail management, and many others.

Annamalai University Distance Education: Admissions

Two times a year, in January and July, Annamalai University Distance Education holds its admissions process. There are BA, B. Com, B. Sc, MBA, BBA, MA, M. Com, and M.Sc degrees available. Online or offline application processes are available. Merit will be considered for some courses, while entrance exams will be administered for other courses for evaluation purposes. There are no entrance examinations for admission in most of the courses. Selection for Annamalai University Distance Education will be based on merit or past-academic history of the candidate.

• Before applying for any of the courses, students must receive at least a 40% on their prior qualifying exams (44% for SC/ST applicants).
• To be considered for its postgraduate programs, the university requires that candidates have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Candidates can register online for Annamalai University's distance education courses by visiting the university's DDE portal.
• Applications must be submitted in person at the university office, and demand drafts may be used to cover the application fee.
• Seats will be allocated throughout the counseling procedure.

UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, and Ph.D. courses are available for admission through Annamalai University Distance Education. For some PG programs, students must pass entrance exams, while student selection for UG programs is based on merit.

Annamalai University Distance Education: PG admissions

Annamalai University PG Courses are exclusively admitted based on merit. Graduation in the relevant field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 50% is the basic requirement for applying to any of the PG courses offered by the university. Candidates must show up for a counseling session held by the university after being accepted for admission.

Candidates can obtain an application form by downloading it from the university's website, completing it, and sending it—along with the necessary payment—by demand draft made out to "The Director, DDE, Annamalai University." Candidates must submit their completed and properly signed application forms, along with attested photocopies of all necessary supporting documentation, by the specified deadlines after receiving the application form.

MA: The Master of Arts, or MA, is one of the post-graduate degree programs candidates can choose from through the Annamalai University Distance Education department. A Master of Arts program lasts two years.  Any specialization is available to candidates, including those in political science, geography, economics, phycology, language study, tourism management, rural development, etc. The minimum requirement for applying to the program is a bachelor's degree with at least 45–50% of the required marks from an accredited institution.

MA English: Master of Arts in English is a postgraduate degree program that emphasizes the English language. 

MA Geography: Focuses on the investigation of the Earth's geographic structure. After completing the course, a candidate can apply for the position of geologist. The candidate studies everything there is to know about the geography of the earth.

MA Political Science: In this course, candidates learn everything there is to know about politics, including geopolitics, national and international relations, communication techniques, and an understanding of social issues. He is therefore a competent politician or social worker.

MA Hindi: This postgraduate course is intended to provide students with a thorough understanding of the Hindi language. Topics covered include the language's history, variety of dialects, writing abilities, etc. It takes two years to complete this PG program. A candidate has a wide range of employment options, including writing for newspapers, publishing short stories, teaching Hindi at a university or college, and many more.

MCom: One of the most sought-after courses at Annamalai University's distance learning program is the Master of Commerce. This post-graduate degree program is two years long and is devoted to studying financial management. After completing this course, a candidate will be able to submit an application for employment in any financial sector. Candidates must complete a BCom or degree program from an accredited university with at least 45–50% of the required marks to apply for the program.

Selection to any of the university's PG programs is based on merit, which is determined by the student's graduate grade point average and performance on the pertinent subject(s). Additionally, participating in a counseling session is necessary for the final candidate selection.

• Candidates for postgraduate programs must hold graduate degrees in the applicable field with at least a 50% average.
• SC/ST candidates must receive at least 45% in their most recent qualifying exam, while general candidates must receive at least 50%. 
• To be eligible for admission, candidates must have a minimum GPA of 50% at graduation.

Annamalai University Distance Education: MBA Admission 2023

More than seven specializations are available in the distance learning MBA program at Annamalai University. Students must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum grade point average of 50% prior to applying to MBA programs. Business studies are covered in the distance learning program provided by Annamalai University. For this course, two years are needed.  Candidates who meet the requirements for an Annamalai University bachelor's degree program can submit an online application.
