NSHM Knowledge Campus, Kolkata was established in the academic year of 1997. NSHM basically stands for four Latin words i.e. Notabilis, Sociatrix, Humanus, and Maxime when combined together means “Noteworthy Collaboration for Best Development of Humankind. The institute was built to fulfill the purpose of imparting knowledge to different segments of society. NSHM Knowledge Campus is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (previously known as West Bengal University of Technology) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

NSHM Knowledge Campus, Kolkata was ranked as one of the best colleges in India by India Today and Outlook magazines. These ranks were given in the field of Mass Communication.
