Gujarat National Law University is a member of the NLUs founded by the Indian government. It is a public law school that was founded in accordance with the GNLU Act of 2003. The university offers UG programs in five streams, PG programs with more than ten specializations, and an interdisciplinary and law Ph.D. program.
The faculty-to-student ratio at the university is an excellent 1:19. The average age of faculty members at the university is 38 years, and 79% of them have PhDs. The University submits about 1,000 students a year, and of those, 44% are female students.
Aside from this, the University's 50.64-acre campus is home to all essential amenities, including a library, internet access, labs, moot courtrooms, an auditorium, and many more. There are about 60 teaching and research faculty members at the university's 12 research centers.
The university gives out about Rs 2 crore in scholarships and financial aid to its students each year. Nine distinct chair/fellowship programs in the field of law are available through the university in addition to degree programs. More than 30 prestigious foreign universities participate in the university's student exchange program. Universities like the University of Cologne in Germany, the University of Barcelona, the World Trade Institute in Switzerland, the Osaka University, and many more have collaborated with one another.

Candidates who want to practice law in India must pass the All India Bar Exam (AIBE), which is administered by BCI. Lawyers who pass the AIBE exam are given a "Certificate of Practice," which is required to practice as an advocate in India.
